If you yearn to be on the water, but fishing is not your passion, set out on a private cruise of Kachemak Bay. Become fully immersed in the scenery and biodiversity of Alaska's incredible coastline. Cruise past Gull Island and its thousands of birds of all kinds—including the unique Alaskan puffin, loons, and the elegant cormorant, not to mention bald eagles—which will thrill your senses throughout your stay in Homer.

Depending on the time of year or even just the day, you can spy porpoises, pods of orca, and humpback whales as you glide through the waters of Kachemak Bay; and if you're really lucky, one may breach, using its powerful fluke to launch itself out of the water in pure majesty.

Sea Otters are everywhere in Kachemak Bay, and you will undoubtedly see them as you cruise the waters...sometimes alone, sometimes in groups and sometimes with tiny otters perched atop their mother's bellies. The fur of sea otters has an incredible 1,000,000 hairs per square inch and are perpetually warm even in the frigid northern waters of Alaska.

Homer is the premier destination for sea kayaking and there is no setting more picturesque or waters more abundant with marine life. Whether a half-day paddle or a guided full-day paddle is more your speed, we will make sure you have a safe and incredible experience gliding through the waters in a kayak.

Paddle among the sea otters and seals (seals are often fascinated by kayaks and follow behind you, with only their heads above the water...watching) through the pristine waters of Otter Cove, Sadie Cove, Tutka Bay, around Yukon Island, or through Halibut Cove. Depending on the tide, you can beach your kayak and experience some of the world's most amazing beachcombing from beaches you can only reach by kayak.

Find sea stars, brittle stars, sunburst stars, hermit crabs, eels, and even octopus dens along the beaches of Kachemak Bay.
